Welcome and Announcements

Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship        (adapted from Psalm 1)

Blessed is the one who considers the poor!

In the day of trouble the Lord delivers him;

The Lord protects him and keeps him alive;

He is called blessed in the land;

You, O Lord,  do not give him up to the will of his enemies.

The Lord sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness He restores him to full health.

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting!

Amen and Amen.

* Affirmation of Faith        The Apostles Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic* church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection

of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.                                            *universal

* Prayer of Invocation

* Hymn of Adoration            When We All Get to Heaven            Red Book # 772

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

O Maker of the universe, we treat the wonders of Your creation with casual familiarity. We act as though we own the world and can fathom all the mysteries You have built into it. We want to be masters of all we survey rather than Your beloved children living by Your grace and serving You. Father, forgive our pride and arrogance. Please help us to live in, and with, the gift and the mystery of redemption in Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray.  (time of silent, personal confession)  AMEN

Assurance of Pardon

    Leader   . . . Friends, believe the Good News of the Gospel!

    ALL:            In Jesus Christ we are forgiven

* Responding with Praise                    Gloria Patri                      Blue Book # 579

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning; is now and ever shall be. World without end, Amen! Amen!

Time with Young Disciples

Prayers of the People and the Lords Prayer

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.  AMEN.

THANK YOU  – Thanks to all who contributed to the special offering for victims of the Texas flood in the San Marcos area. "Uncertainty is one of the forms of suffering that

can produce character.  Maybe part of trusting God

is trusting that he will give me full knowledge

of him when the time is right."  John Ortberg
