* Call to Worship      adapted from Psalm 104     (Read responsively)

All the earth looks to You, LORD, to give them their food in due season.

When You open Your hand, they are filled with good things.

When You hide Your face, they are dismayed.

When You take away their breath, they die and return to their dust.

When You send forth Your Spirit, they are created,

And You renew the face of the ground.

May the glory of the Lord endure forever;

may the Lord rejoice in all His works,

* Affirmation of Faith        “The Nicene Creed”

We believe in one God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.  And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, Very God of Very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father by whom all things were made; who for us men, and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary, and was made man, and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate, He suffered and was buried, and the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of the Father, And he shall come again with glory to judge both the quick and the dead, whose kingdom shall have no end.

And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life, who proceedeth from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets. And we believe one holy catholic [universal] and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. And we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

Almighty God, You poured out Your Spirit upon gathered disciples creating bold tongues, opening ears, and birthing a new community of faith. We confess we hold back the force of Your Spirit among us. We do not listen for Your word of grace, speak the good news of Your love, or live as a people made one in Jesus. Have mercy on us, O God. Transform our timid lives by the power of Your Spirit and fill us with a flaming desire to be Your faithful people, doing Your holy will for the sake of Jesus Christ our LORD.   (time of silent, personal confession)  AMEN

Prayers of the People and the Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.  AMEN.
