Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship   adapted from Psalm 2      (Read responsively)

Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain?

The kings of the earth set themselves;

the rulers of the world take counsel together against the Lord and against His anointed.

UNISON: They say: "Let us burst Their bonds apart and cast away Their cords from us."

He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision.

Then He will speak to them in His wrath, and terrify them in His fury, saying,

UNISON: "As for Me, I have set My King on Zion, My holy hill."

* Affirmation of Faith        “The Apostle’s Creed”

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.

* Prayer of Invocation

* Hymn of Adoration                “Come, Thou Almighty King”              Red Book # 8

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

Almighty and most merciful God, we make demands upon You rather than humble requests. We insist upon signs and evidence of Your love. We try to supplant Your wisdom with our folly. What truth we do possess we hoard like misers instead of sharing with the world. Life seems easier that way, and we fit in better with the world. We also know we are wrong. Lord, in the name of Jesus, forgive us and help us to do better.    (silent, personal confession)  AMEN

Assurance of Pardon

    Leader   . . . Friends, believe the Good News of the Gospel!

    ALL:      In Jesus Christ we are forgiven!

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning; is now and ever shall be. World without end, Amen! Amen!

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of Your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

God is real, God is present, and we hope you sense and experience the grandeur of God today in this morning’s worship. Please remember to sign the blue attendance pad.

Today - We will celebrate the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. In the Presbyterian Church (USA), all who sincerely trust in Jesus Christ and Him alone for the forgiveness of sin are invited to the Lord’s table, including baptized children with parental permission.

Being imperfect emphasizes our dependence
