Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship    adapted from Psalm 121   (Read responsively)

We lift up our eyes to the hills. From where does our help come?

Our help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

He will not let our feet be moved; He who keeps us will not slumber.

Behold, He who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is our keeper.

The Lord is our shade on our right hand.

The sun shall not strike us by day,

nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep us from all evil;

He will keep our life.

The Lord will keep our going out and our coming in . . .

from this time forth and forevermore.

* Affirmation of Faith        “The Apostle’s Creed”

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.

* Prayer of Invocation

* Hymn of Adoration                         “Lift High the Cross”              Red Book # 450

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

O God of mercy: You sent Jesus Christ to save lost men and women. Judge us with love, and lift the burden of our sins. We confess that we are twisted by pride. We see ourselves pure when we are stained, great when we are small. We give in to temptation, fail in love, and forget Your Word. Have mercy, O God, and forgive our sin, for the sake of Jesus Your Son. (silent, personal confession)  AMEN

Assurance of Pardon

    Leader   . . . Friends, believe the Good News of the Gospel!

    ALL:      In Jesus Christ we are forgiven!

* Responding with Praise               “Gloria Patri”                            Blue Book #579

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning; is now and ever shall be. World without end, Amen! Amen!

OUR DAILY BREAD (REGULAR SIZE EDITION) - Complimentary copies of Our Daily Bread for March, April, and May are located on the table in the Narthex. Many find this daily devotional aid helpful to their spiritual growth.

LENTEN SERIES – Join us on each Thursday evening during Lent for a soup, salad & dessert supper followed by the Lenten DVD Series, The Holy Days of Our Lord, Shadows of Things to Come. Filmed in Israel, this series by Zola Levitt presents the holidays our Lord celebrated. Given to Moses on Mt. Sinai, these holidays are fascinating studies of Biblical types and shadows. Come learn why these holidays have significance for Christians as we anticipate the second coming of Jesus. A sign-up sheet to bring a dish for the supper is on the kitchen door.

The faith of others encourages; a faith of our own transforms.
