Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship      adapted from Psalm 138       (Read responsively)

All the kings of the earth shall give You thanks, O Lord,

For they have heard the words of Your mouth;

And they shall sing of the ways of the Lord,

For great is the glory of the Lord.

For though the Lord is high, He regards the lowly,

But the haughty He knows from afar.

Though we walk in the midst of trouble, You preserve our lives;

You stretch out Your hand against the wrath of our enemies, and Your right hand delivers us.

The Lord will fulfill His purpose for us;

Your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever.

ALL: Do not forsake the work of Your hands.

* Affirmation of Faith        “The Apostle’s Creed”

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic* church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.                                         *universal

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

O God, Ruler of the universe, we acknowledge our sinful nature and confess that we are guilty of many transgressions against You.  Not the least of these is our placing a low value on Your Word and Your Kingdom; living as though we belong only to ourselves.  We know that Jesus came to buy us back from sin and death, and to open our eyes to the truth. Please, Father, forgive us yet again, and receive our thanks for the work and sacrifice of Jesus Christ, Your Son and our Lord.  In His precious and lovely name we pray.   (time of silent, personal confession)  AMEN
