Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship   adapted from the Song of Solomon      (Read responsively)

My beloved speaks and says to me:

Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away, for behold, the winter is past;  the rain is over and gone.

The flowers appear on the earth, the time of singing has come, and the voice of  the turtledove is heard in our land.

The fig tree ripens its figs, and the vines are in blossom; they give forth their fragrance.

Arise, my love, my beautiful one, and come away.

Let me hear Your voice, for Your voice is sweet, and Your face is lovely.

* Affirmation of Faith        “The Apostle’s Creed”

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.

* Prayer of Invocation

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

O God, King of the universe, our sin is persistent and we deserve only Your anger and judgment. We have spoken with authority when we were ignorant of Your will. We have accepted Your gifts without thanking or perceiving the Giver. We have followed our own devices deeming it to be Your call while shutting out Your voice and Your word. Hear us, our Father, grant us Your mercy and restore us to fellowship with You, for we only dare to approach You in the Name of Jesus Christ, our Redeemer and Lord.   (silent, personal confession)  AMEN
