Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship    adapted from Psalm 105     (Read responsively)

Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon His name!

Make known His deeds among the peoples!

Sing to Him, sing praises to Him;

tell of all His wondrous works!

Glory in His holy name;

let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!

Seek the Lord and His strength;

seek His presence continually!

Remember the wondrous works that He has done.

O children of Jacob, His chosen ones, recount His miracles and the judgments He uttered.

* Affirmation of Faith        “The Apostle’s Creed”

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.

* Prayer of Invocation

* Hymn of Adoration  “How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds”   Red Book  # 123

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

Almighty God, we continue to rely on ourselves and our narrow view of things when we should rely upon You alone. You continually protect us and clear the way ahead of us. We fret and shrink back in the face of difficulties.  We find it inconvenient to answer Your call to deeper devotion, fervent prayer, more faithful discipleship, broader vision, more perfect love.  Forgive our disobedience. Father, we confess our sin and acknowledge our need for cleansing and renewal. Hear our prayer and raise us to newness of life in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord.    (silent, personal confession)  AMEN

Assurance of Pardon

    Leader    . . . Friends, believe the Good News of the Gospel!

    ALL:             In Jesus Christ we are forgiven

* Responding with Praise               “Gloria Patri”                            Blue Book #579

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning; is now and ever shall be. World without end, Amen! Amen!

Prayers of the People and the Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.  AMEN.
