Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship      (adapted from Psalm 89)

We will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord, forever;

With our mouths we will make known Your faithfulness to all generations.

For we said, "Steadfast love will be built up forever;

In the heavens You will establish Your faithfulness."

You have said, "I have made a covenant with My chosen one;

I have sworn to David My servant:

'I will establish your offspring forever,

And build your throne for all generations.'"

* Affirmation of Faith        The Apostles Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection

of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.

* Prayer of Invocation

* Hymn of Adoration                    Shine, Jesus, Shine                 Red Book # 431

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

O Father in heaven, we so need to give ourselves to something greater than ourselves. We end up giving our first and greatest loyalty to the wrong things: our hurts and fears, selfish desires, sports, politics, family, work, profession, leisure. We know we ought to give ourselves to You first of all. We confess our wrong-doing and humbly ask that You would give us a sharp sense of that wrong, a keen desire to live obediently, and the true joy of renewed fellowship even as, for the sake of Jesus, You offer us forgiveness. Through Jesus Christ we pray.   (time of silent, personal confession)  AMEN

Assurance of Pardon

    Leader   . . . Friends, believe the Good News of the Gospel!

    ALL:            In Jesus Christ we are forgiven

* Responding with Praise                    Gloria Patri                      Blue Book # 579

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning; is now and ever shall be. World without end, Amen! Amen!

Prayers of the People and the Lords Prayer

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.  AMEN.
