Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship   adapted from Psalm 148   (Read responsively)

Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord from the heavens; praise Him in the heights!
Praise Him, all His angels; praise Him, all His hosts!

Praise Him, sun and moon, praise Him, all you shining stars!
Praise Him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens!

Let them praise the name of the Lord! For He commanded and they were created.
He established them forever; he gave a decree, and it shall not pass away.

Let them praise the name of the Lord, for His name alone is exalted;
His majesty is above earth and heaven.
ALL:  Praise the Lord!

* Affirmation of Faith        “The Apostle’s Creed”

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

Father in heaven, we confess that we have fallen far short of the standard for loving which Your Son Jesus demonstrated, taught, and lived at the cost of His own life. We live more like the descendants of Adam than like children and heirs of the Redeemer and King of creation. Lord our God, we acknowledge our sinful nature and confess our sinful acts. We desire to be obedient, and we meekly await Your moving to restore us to fellowship with You, and the rekindling of joy at the salvation You have made ours through Jesus Christ the Lord. In His name.  (silent, personal confession)  AMEN.

* Responding with Praise               “Gloria Patri”                            Blue Book #579

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning; is now and ever shall be. World without end, Amen! Amen!
