Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship    adapted from Psalm 146

The Lord sets the prisoners free!

The Lord opens the eyes of the blind!

The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down and loves the righteous.

The Lord watches over the sojourners.

He upholds the widow and the fatherless,

But the way of the wicked He brings to ruin.

The Lord will reign forever,

your God, O Zion, rules to all generations.

ALL: Praise the Lord!

* Affirmation of Faith        “The Apostle’s Creed”

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Holy Lord, Father almighty, everlasting God, we thank You for commanding light out of darkness, for dividing the waters into the sea and dry land, for creating the whole world and calling it good. We thank You for making us in Your image to live with each other in love; for the breath of life, the gift of speech and freedom to choose Your way. You have told us Your purpose in commandments to Moses, and called for justice in the cry of the prophets. Through long generations, You have been fair and kind to all Your children. Great and wonderful are Your works, Lord God almighty. Your ways are just and true. With men and women of faith from all times and places, we lift our hearts in joyful praise, for You alone are holy. AMEN

* Responding with Praise               “Gloria Patri”                            Blue Book #579
