Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship   adapted from Psalm 17    (Read responsively)

You have tried our hearts, You have visited us by night,

You have tested us, and You will find nothing;

We have purposed that our mouths will not transgress.

With regard to the works of man, by the word of Your lips we have avoided the ways of the violent.

Our steps have held fast to Your paths; our feet have not slipped.

We call upon You, for You will answer us, O God.

Incline Your ear to us; hear our words.

Wondrously show Your steadfast love.

You are the Savior of those who seek refuge from their adversaries at Your right hand.

* Affirmation of Faith        “The Apostle’s Creed”

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.

Admitting Our Sin to God

Lord of all that is seen and unseen, we admit that we have not made the life of Jesus our own way of life. Our trust is often weak and our faith small. We allow ourselves to be a needy folk in the face of Your abundant provisions of grace. Forgive us for not remembering Who You are, Father, and for failing to seek the riches of Your grace. Restore and renew us we pray. In the name of Jesus Christ.   (silent, personal confession)  AMEN
