Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship     adapted from Psalm 130      (Read responsively)

If You, O Lord, should mark iniquities,

O Lord, who could stand?

But with You there is forgiveness,

that You may be feared.

We wait for the Lord,

our souls wait, and in His word we hope.

Our souls wait for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning;

Yea, more than watchmen for the morning.

O Israel, hope in the Lord!

For with the Lord there is steadfast love.

With Him is plentiful redemption.

And He will redeem His people from all their iniquities.

* Affirmation of Faith        “The Apostle’s Creed”

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.

* Prayer of Invocation

* Hymn of Adoration                       “Amazing Grace”                    Red Book # 343

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

O Father of mercy, in Your great love for us You have sent Your Son to buy us back from sin and to show us how to live. We have often rejected Him and His ways. We have resisted Your Spirit and Your claim upon “our” lives, “our” time, and “our” resources. We acknowledge our sinful nature, admit our many sins, and seek to be properly restored in our hearts, minds, and attitudes. Prepare our hearts now to renew our commitment and devotion to You through Jesus the Christ. In His name we pray.    (silent, personal confession)  AMEN

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

. . .

. . . and lift our voices in joyful praise: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of Your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
