Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship   adapted from Psalm 148      (Read responsively)

Praise the Lord!  Praise the Lord  from the heavens; praise Him in the heights!

Praise Him, all His angels; Praise Him, all His  hosts!

Praise Him, sun and moon, Praise Him, all you shining stars!

Praise Him, you highest heavens, And you waters above the heavens!

Let them praise the name of the Lord! For He commanded and they were created.

He established them forever and ever; He gave a decree, and it shall not pass away.

* Affirmation of Faith        “The Apostle’s Creed”

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic* church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.                                        *universal

* Prayer of Invocation

* Hymn of Adoration                    “O How I Love Jesus”                    Red Book # 92

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

Almighty God, we are guilty of rebellion. We have followed our own inclinations and yielded to our own selfish wills; please forgive us. We have held on to our secret sins be-cause we love them; please remove them from us. We have been more concerned about luxuries than life, more interested in television than church, more eager to read the popular Book-of-the-Month than the Bible, the Book of the Ages; please reorder our desires. We have been at ease, self-satisfied, lacking in holiness, willing to lean on others and the welfare state instead of on our own faithful work dedicated to You.  Heavenly Father, do forgive us and purify us. Take away our doubt, our lack of faith, our dependence on self. Help us to turn to You without reservation that we might be renewed and restored. Through our Lord Jesus Christ.     (time of silent, personal confession)  AMEN

Prayers of the People and the Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.  AMEN.

God is real, God is present, and we hope you sense and experience the grandeur of God today in this morning’s worship. Please sign the blue attendance pad and join us in the Fellowship Hall for coffee and light refreshments following the worship service.

BUILDING MAINTENANCE FUND – Last year the Session established a Building Maintenance Fund to make payment of large repair bills easier. A hearty thanks to all who have contributed to this fund. It is deeply appreciated. The Building Maintenance Fund  along with our monthly cash flow has made the payment of the parking lot repair and seal coating possible without drawing upon other reserves. Now the fund is almost depleted. As the Lord leads, please consider contributing to the fund so we can be prepared for future significant repairs.

FIRST SUNDAY - Please remember to bring your contributions for local outreach organizations next Sunday, May 1st and place them in the baskets located under the old pew in the Narthex.

NEXT SUNDAY - We will celebrate the Lord’s Supper. In the Presbyterian Church (USA), all who sincerely trust in Jesus Christ and Him alone, for the forgiveness of sin, are invited to partake, including baptized children with parental permission.
