Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship    adapted from Psalm 118    (Read responsively)

Out of my distress I called on the Lord;

the Lord answered me and set me free.

The Lord is on my side; I will not fear.

What can man do to me?

The Lord is on my side as my helper;

I shall look in triumph on those who hate me.

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.

It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.

* Affirmation of Faith        “The Apostle’s Creed”

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.

* Prayer of Invocation

* Hymn of Adoration               “Hosanna, Loud Hosanna”             Red Book # 297

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

Do not harden our hearts, O God, to the sound of Your voice. We confess that we don't listen to the word that You send. You give us Jesus, the Word of life in our midst. We confess our delay in obeying the direction He brings. You promise the Holy Spirit, a source of counsel and power. We confess ignoring such guidance, since we do not respond. Forgive us our sin, and help us, we humbly pray, to fully enter the kingdom Christ has brought. In His name we pray.   (silent, personal confession)  AMEN
