Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship      adapted from Psalm 30    (Read responsively)

We will extol You, O Lord, for You have drawn us up

And have not let our foes rejoice over us.

O Lord our God, we cried to You for help,

And You have healed us.

O Lord, You have brought up our souls from Sheol;

You restored us to life from among those who go down to the pit.

* Affirmation of Faith        “The Apostle’s Creed”

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic* church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.                                                   *universal

* Prayer of Invocation

* Hymn of Adoration        “Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty”         Red Book # 3

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

God of the universe, You love us with a love which never fails. You proved it by sending Jesus Christ to die for our sins. You have put Your love within us and asked us to share it. While we pride ourselves on sharing by degrees, we still hold some back and rely more on ourselves than upon You. Father, we admit our sins and our shortcomings. We ask You to remove the barriers between ourselves and You. Help us to do better at sharing the love You continually give to us. We ask in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.    (time of silent, personal confession)   AMEN

Assurance of Pardon

Leader  . . . Friends, believe the Good News of the Gospel!
