Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship   adapted from Psalm 1    (Read responsively)

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,

Nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;

But his delight is in the law of the Lord,

And on His law he meditates day and night.

He is like a tree, planted by streams of water, that yields its fruit in its season.

Its leaf does not wither, in all that he does, he prospers.

The wicked are not so,

But are like chaff that the wind drives away.

* Affirmation of Faith        “The Apostle’s Creed”

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic* church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN                                         *universal

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

 O Lord who is from everlasting to everlasting, we have not followed Your Son as You command. We have not taken up our own crosses. We have known the flush of shame at the sound of Christ's name and word. We have sought worldly profit and approval to the endangering of our souls. God of mercy, we confess our faults and meekly ask to be restored to open fellowship with You. We ask not for our own sake, but in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  (time of silent, personal confession)  AMEN

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
