Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship   adapted from Psalm 13   (Read responsively)

How long, O Lord?

Will you forget us forever?

How long will You hide Your face from us?

How long must we take counsel in our souls and have sorrow in our hearts all the day?

How long shall our enemy be exalted over us?

Consider and answer us, O Lord our God

Light up our eyes, lest we sleep the sleep of death,

lest our enemy say, "I have prevailed over him," lest our foes rejoice because we are shaken.

But we have trusted in Your steadfast love;

Our hearts shall rejoice in Your salvation.

We will sing to the Lord,

because He has dealt bountifully with us.

* Affirmation of Faith        “The Apostle’s Creed”

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.

* Prayer of Invocation

* Hymn of Adoration                 “We Praise Thee, O God”               Red Book # 68

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

O God in Heaven, have mercy upon us and forgive us for we have put other persons or things before You. We have followed our own hearts instead of Your commands. We have taken what is not ours. We have not always told the truth. We have chosen anger rather than love. We have put ourselves ahead of others who are more worthy and deserving. We have betrayed, denied, and forsaken the Lord Who has redeemed us. But You, O God, know all of this better than we know ourselves. We confess it all in the name of Jesus, and pray for You to find us where we are, remake and restore us for the sake of His work on the cross.  (silent, personal confession)  AMEN

WHETHER you’re investigating the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ, looking for a church home, or have been with us for a long time – welcome! God is real, God is present, and we hope you sense and experience the grandeur of God today in this morning’s worship. Please remember to sign the blue attendance pad.

FIRST SUNDAY - Please remember to bring your contributions for local outreach organizations next Sunday, July 6th and place them in the baskets located under the old pew in the Narthex.

NEXT SUNDAY - We will celebrate the Lord’s Supper. In the Presbyterian Church (USA), all who sincerely trust in Jesus Christ and Him alone, for the forgiveness of  sin, are invited to partake, including baptized children with parental permission.

Our desire to please God is our highest motive for obeying Him.
