Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship     adapted from Psalm 86       (Read responsively)

There is none like You among the gods, O Lord,

nor are there any works like Yours.

All the nations You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord,

and shall glorify Your name.

For You are great and do wondrous things;

You alone are God.

Teach us Your way, O Lord, that we may walk in Your truth;

unite our hearts to fear Your name.

We give thanks to You, O Lord our God, with all our whole hearts

and we will glorify Your name forever.

* Affirmation of Faith        “The Apostle’s Creed”

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.

* Prayer of Invocation

* Hymn of Adoration                    “How Great Thou Art”                Red Book # 147

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

Almighty God: in Jesus Christ You have called us to be a servant people, but we do not do what You command. We are often silent when we should speak, and useless when we could be useful. We are lazy servants, timid, fearful, and heartless, seeking our own comfort and position, turning neighbors away from Your love. Have mercy on us, O God, and though we do not deserve Your care, forgive us and free us from sin. In the name of Christ we pray..  (silent, personal confession)  AMEN
