Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship    adapted from Psalm 24     (Read responsively)

Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?

And who shall stand in His holy place?

He who has clean hands and a pure heart,

Who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully.

He will receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

Such is the generation of those who seek Him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob.

* Affirmation of Faith        The Apostles Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic* church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection

of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.                                           *universal

* Prayer of Invocation

* Hymn of Adoration           Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee            Red Book # 90

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

God of the universe, You created us to live before You in a relationship of obedience, faith, and love. We confess we have sinned because we have not obeyed Your word, as we ought to obey. We have not trusted You as we ought to trust. We have not loved You or our neighbors as we ought to love. We know we cannot save ourselves from our sin. Hear our prayer, O God, forgive and restore to us the joy of Thy salvation, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.  (time of silent, personal confession)  AMEN
