Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship   adapted from Psalm 112    (Read responsively)

Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,

who greatly delights in His commandments!

His offspring will be mighty in the land;

the generation of the upright will be blessed.

Wealth and riches are in his house,

and his righteousness endures forever.

Light dawns in the darkness for the upright;

he is gracious, merciful, and righteous.

It is well with the man who deals generously and lends;

who conducts his affairs with justice.

For the righteous will never be moved;

he will be remembered forever.

* Affirmation of Faith        “The Apostle’s Creed”

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.

* Prayer of Invocation

* Hymn of Adoration Surely the Presence of the Lord Is in This Place”     Red Book # 219

                                                                           (Sing twice)

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

Sovereign God, we confess that we have not measured our lives alongside Jesus. Therefore our sense of values is distorted. We have not distinguished between the immediate and the important; what is at hand and what is eternal; between what is popular and what is true; between what is desirable and what is divine. Gracious God, through Your forgiveness, help us to set things straight in our minds and hearts, that our lips and our lives might witness faithfully to Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, in Whose name we pray.   (silent, personal confession)  AMEN

Assurance of Pardon

* Responding with Praise               “Gloria Patri”                            Blue Book #579

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning; is now and ever shall be. World without end, Amen! Amen!

CULTIVATING A CHRISTIAN WORLDVIEW – The 2014 Texas Hill Country Bible Conference will be held February 28 and March 1 in Boerne. The conference theme is Cultivating a Christian Worldview. In an increasingly secularized society, Christians often find their ideas under attack. How can we maintain a Christ-centered perspective on the contested issues of our day? The answer is by having a consistently Christian worldview that shapes our thoughts, guides our words, and motivates our actions. This conference will help build a foundation for Christian worldview thinking. Additional information can be obtained at or by calling 800 488-1888.
