Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship   adapted from Psalm 32   (Read responsively)

Let everyone who is godly offer prayer to You, O LORD, at a time when You  may be found;

Surely in the rush of great waters, the flood shall not reach those who call upon You.

LORD, You are a hiding place for us;

You preserve us from trouble; You surround us with shouts of deliverance.

* Affirmation of Faith        The Apostles Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic* church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.                                         *universal

* Prayer of Invocation

* Hymn of Adoration                  Praise Him! Praise Him!              Red Book # 12

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

Lord, our God, we draw back from speaking about our faith and from putting it into action. We are afraid we will look foolish or be rejected. We do not love Jesus enough to speak up, or our fellow citizens enough to confront their ungodly ways. Forgive us, and grant us courage to speak and to act in accord with Your holy will. For we come to You in Jesus’ name.  (time of silent, personal confession)  AMEN

Assurance of Pardon

    Leader   . . . Friends, believe the Good News of the Gospel!

    ALL:            In Jesus Christ we are forgiven

* Responding with Praise                    Gloria Patri                      Blue Book # 579

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning; is now and ever shall be. World without end, Amen! Amen!
