Sharing Our Joys and Concerns

* Call to Worship        (Read responsively)

Then Israel came to Egypt; Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.

The Lord made His people very fruitful, and made them stronger than their foes.

He turned their hearts to hate His people, to deal craftily with His servants.

He sent Moses, His servant, and Aaron, whom He had chosen.

They performed his signs among them, and miracles in the land of Ham.

* Affirmation of Faith        “The Apostle’s Creed”

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting.  AMEN.

* Prayer of Invocation

* Hymn of Adoration                  “All that Thrills My Soul”               Red Book # 511

Invitation to Confession

Admitting Our Sin to God

Do not harden our hearts, O God, to the sound of Your voice. We confess that we don't listen to the word that You send. You give us Jesus, the Word of life in our midst. We con fess our delay in obeying the direction He brings. You promise Holy Spirit, a source of counsel and power. We confess ignoring such guidance, since we do not respond. Forgive us our sin, and help us, we humbly pray, to fully enter the kingdom Christ has brought. In His name we pray.   (time of silent, personal confession)  AMEN

WHETHER you’re investigating the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ, looking for a church home, or have been with us for a long time – welcome! God is real, God is present, and we hope you sense and experience the grandeur of God today in this morning’s worship. Please remember to sign the blue attendance pad.

A SPECIAL WELCOME is extended to the students and leaders in the current Christian Men’s Job Corp course who join us this morning for worship.

SPECIAL OFFERING FOR IRAQI CHRISTIANS – During the month of August, we are taking a special offering for the Iraqi Christians forced into the desert by ISIS. These Christians lack adequate water, food and other necessities of life. Their need is acute. Please pray for God to provide for their needs and protect them.

FIRST SUNDAY - Please remember to bring your contributions for local outreach organizations next Sunday, September 7th and place them in the baskets located under the old pew in the Narthex.

NEXT SUNDAY - We will celebrate the Lord’s Supper. In the Presbyterian Church (USA), all who sincerely trust in Jesus Christ and Him alone, for the forgiveness of  sin, are invited to partake, including baptized children with parental permission.

THANK YOU – to those who gave extra in July and August to help restore our church operating account following a series of higher than normal expenses. Your additional contributions made a difference and are deeply appreciated.

Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul,

my life, my all.  (Isaac Watts)
